ECU / ECM Repair

Many times the cost of repair is 25% or less of the cost of a replacement. Most replacements are actually cores that have been repaired in the same manner as we do. Our success rate is better than 80%.

These units cost $2000 to $6000 to replace which includes the core being submitted. Sometimes the core is not acceptable which increases the cost even more. Some models have no replacement available. Most repair bills are $200 to $600.

If you are in a rush call so we can discuss the possibility of expedited service, otherwise repair time is 10 days or more.

ECM / ECU Repairs

Technical Specialists began in 1991 doing much the same as we do now: component level repair of electronics circuits. ECM / ECU repair means that we replace the components on the board that are defective rather than replace the entire board. Transistors and ICs cost only a fraction of the cost of a replacement board (typically about 3%). Replacement of Electronic control units usually costs thousands of dollars. Repair is a mere fraction of this.

Our Procedure

Within 10 days (usually less) of receiving the defective ECU / ECM, we will diagnose the problem and contact you with the cost of repair. In the majority of cases we have already done so as it is often difficult to be certain there are no additional failures. We don't just get them working and send them back because we back up our service with a 60 day GUARANTEE!

Our Policies

Our labor rate is $45 per hour. You will not find a better price anywhere. How can we do it? It's because we have plenty of technical data, one of the most complete parts inventories anywhere and most of all - many years of experience.
